The Annual Scooter rally in Cleethorpes is almost here. Celebrating it’s 20th anniversary this week.
The BSRA Cleethorpes national scooter rally 2018 takes place from Friday, July 6 through to Sunday, July 8 – hosted by Mansfield Monsters Scooter Club and Olympics Scooter Clubs.
Growing in popularity each year, this traditional old-school scooter rally, with its scooter only campsite, offers a great weekend for all and a friendly atmosphere.
“The rally is organised by two scooter clubs, The Mansfield Monsters and Olympics Scooter Club (Olympics are from West Bromwich).
The main campsite is located at Meridian showground, Cleethorpes. It costs £15 to camp if you’re on a scooter and £20 if not. You don’t need tickets, simply pay on the day. Please note cars, vans, camper vans and caravans are not permitted but there is plenty of pay & display parking around the site for £5 per day. Local fire regulations forbid BBQs on site.
With a camping ticket you get not only a great value weekend camping, you also receive entrance to the official evening events at the nearby Beachcomber. There is also use of the free coaches from the campsite to town, back to the site and to the entertainment which is on Friday, July 6 and Saturday, July 7 from 8pm to 2.30am.
Also if the public wants to visit the campsite to see the scooters on Saturday they will be doing day tickets for £3.
The local clubs organise a ride into the campsite from Premier Inn in Grimsby at around 11am Saturday.
For the official night event The Beachcomber will host two rooms of quality DJs, a main room with all kinds of scooterist music, plus a dedicated Northern Soul room.
It costs £5 per night (free if you’re on the campsite and have a wristband).
There will also be unofficial live entertainment at the “SQUARE” in the Cleethorpes and various other pubs and clubs around the town centre. This will probably be quite loud and busy and expect a lot of cover bands doing SKA or Indie.
For scooter lovers we recommend the official afterdo at Beachcomber. But if you are just looking for a fun day out, look at some scooters and get drunk in the sun then town is the best place for you. Also if you are drinking the town centre, try make sure you are respectful of the scooters parked around, even if you are overly excited from the England match.
