Future Fest: Jobs, skills, opportunities & entertainment

Future Fest comes to Scunthorpe: Jobs, skills, opportunities and entertainment for all to enjoy

Ongo is set to host one of the region’s largest employment events of the year, bringing together employers, training providers and support organisations to get people into work or progress in their career.

Future Fest will take place on Friday 26 June at Church Square in Scunthorpe. It’s completely free and is designed to support anyone looking to work, change careers, gain new skills, or build confidence.

There’ll be opportunities to meet employers, access mental health and skills support, book training, apply for live vacancies and volunteer placements and take part in practical workshops including:

  • CV writing advice and professional reviews from the National Careers Service
  • Electrical workshop with Matthews & Tannert
  • Woodwork and bricklaying with Ongo
  • Interview preparation and mock interviews with Jewson’s, Phoenix Software and Rilmac

There will also be a strong focus on wellbeing, with a dedicated mental health and smoking cessation team available on the day.

In addition, visitors can enjoy live performances from local singers, alongside food vans and refreshments.

More than 20 organisations are already confirmed, including:

Ongo Recruitment, Ongo Skills and Personal Development, DN Colleges, The Arc, Humberside Police, National Careers Service, North Lincolnshire Council, Department for Work and Pensions, Citizens Advice, Lindsey Lodge Hospice, Tayto, John Leggott College, Ellgia, RS Security, and many more.

Josh Harris, Social Value Specialist at Ongo commented: “This year, we’re taking a fresh approach to Employability Day with an event focused on real opportunities. It’s open to anyone ready to take a step forward, whether through volunteering, training, starting a business, or exploring new careers.

“There’ll be entertainment, food and a real feel-good atmosphere so we hope lots of people will come along, enjoy and help to make the day a success.”

Future Fest is being held in support of national Employability Day, a campaign led by ERSA that celebrates and promotes the impact of organisations helping people gain skills and move into work.
