We haven’t personally checked out the new petting zoo yet as it opened yesterday.
Although named Messingham zoo, don’t expect to see giraffes and polar bears like our neighbouring zoo in Doncaster. This is more of a petting zoo and animals you would consider more as pets or rescue animals. There are mixed opinions on zoo’s but this facility will be used for education as well as a visitor center.
The zoo will be closed to the public Monday’s and Tuesday’s and open to school groups.
If you want to get extra close to one of the animals they are offering half an hour with 1 animal for £20 or 1 hour with 2 animals for £35.
Animals included in close up animal encounter experiences are:
Pot bellied pigs
Raccoons
Flemish giant rabbits
Emus
Barn owl
Meerkats (these are in a temp enclosure in the staff area)
So far it’s recieving good feedback even though the first day of opening was a rainy one.
Prices are £7 for adults, £6 for children upto 16. Children under 4 are free, as are carers (with proof).

Fantastic, despite the rain and cold we had a lovely time! Everyone was so friendly and welcoming, we especially loved meeting the adorable skunk! We can’t wait to come back and see all the new additions that will be coming soon! Thank you
