So Dream State seem to be growing in popularity by the day. With backing from Radio One, featuring on the Daniel P Carter rock show along with other track plays on the station and being named one of the hottest bands for 2018 by Kerrang.
The track ‘In This Hell’ follows up from the popular viral hit ‘White Lies’ which racked up over 4.4 million views on YouTube and the new track I’m sure won’t be far behind already reaching over 11k in a short space of time.
Dream State are a Female fronted hard rock group/post hardcore band from Wales. Bands like this seem to get compared with Paramore but this band are so much heavier and the variation of screamo and pop rock vocals of lead singer CJ really set them apart from other bands.
I can’t help but wonder how she does it without hurting her throat but I look forward to finding out live. I also don’t think it will be too long before people are using Dream State as the band to be compared to rather than likening them to.
The new video has a dark feel about it but I wouldn’t say it’s hellish. It’s got nice moody lighting to make a somewhat ordinary house look that little bit more sinister.
The tune itself is melodic, I mean I’ve listen to it a few times and right now I am singing it back in my head, especially the subtle intro, I find that eases me into the heaviness of the song. Now I’m not a heavy fan or into screaming but I can’t help but think this band has something that will carry them further. The song seems to have something for everyone, providing you like this alternative genre, it’s got highs and lows, ups and downs and it feels very dramatic.
Dream state will be in Scunthorpe gracing the Cafe INDIEpendent stage on February 9th. I think we can expect some moshing and headbanging so if that’s your thing don’t delay and grab a ticket from the link below. It’s £5.50 including booking fee and this seems like a bargain, to say this band could potentially be the next big thing on the alternative spectrum.
