Programme of Events
Full Size Steamers, Miniature Steam & Stationary Engines
Winterton Steam and Vintage Rally have a large display of machinery which include full size steamers & rollers, miniature steamers and stationary engines. Since their invention steam engines have played a vital part in industry, agriculture and transport.
The rally provides one of the largest displays of stationary engines in the area. The close up displays show the working engines, many of them being used to drive machinery or provide power for pumps and lighting systems.
Coal driven miniature steam engines are perfect examples of a scaled steamer. They take part in the static and main arena events at the rally and can also be seen around the town taking part in the road run.
The steam engines and rollers are situated at the top of the show field. They can be seen in all their glory as they parade around the main arena and also take part in the road run. Spectators have the chance to compete against these huge machines in a “tug o war” event and also to ride upon the steamers as part of the public driving event.
The sights and smells of these fantastic machines are second to none.
