Hattie the Seasider bus is coming to North Lincolnshire  

The bus, named ‘Hattie,’ is an open top bus modified to include seating areas and tables where people can get together and chat, as well as games for children and families and will be touring North Lincolnshire next week.  

Look out for Hattie as she will be visiting Barton, Scunthorpe, Brigg and Epworth to promote the £1 bus fare cap for children and the continued success of the £2 bus fare cap.  

Young people aged between 5 and 19 years old will pay £1 for single bus journeys within North Lincolnshire during the six-week summer school holidays, commencing 21 July 2024.  

Significant improvements to North Lincolnshire’s bus networks have recently been made by extending services and widening the network to reach more communities as well as the continued offer of the £2 bus fare cap which runs until 31 December 2024.

  • Tuesday 23 July - Barton Interchange from 10am to 2pm  
  • Wednesday 24 July - Scunthorpe High Street from 10am to 2pm  
  • Thursday 25 July - Brigg Market Place from 10am to 2pm  
  • Friday 26 July -  Epworth Youth Hub from 10am to 2pm

£1 bus fare launches for young people during school holidays

Young people aged between five and 19 years old will pay £1 for single bus journeys within North Lincolnshire during the six-week summer school holidays.

The scheme will make it more affordable for families travelling with young children to get out and about during the holidays and visit Normanby Hall Country Park, NL Active leisure centres, 20-21 Visual Arts Centre, Vue Cinema, North Lincolnshire Museum, Waters’ Edge Visitor Centre and Country Park.

Also, residents can have their say and share their views on the bus networks in North Lincolnshire; the bus services, bus stops/infrastructure and public transport information, by completing an online survey

Countdown to free summer swimming sessions begins

Hundreds of young people will be able to have a splashtastic time at leisure centres across North Lincolnshire through the summer – with the return of the Summer Daze swimming sessions.

The popular sessions start on Monday 22 July and run through until the beginning of September, with all children under 16 able to swim for free during the special sessions.
