We were looking for something different to do in Scunthorpe this weekend and decided to visit Scunthorpe Bowl for the first time in many years, and wow, how it has changed! There is so much more to do than just bowling!
We decided we wanted to try out Axe Throwing, which has to be booked 24 hours in advance to ensure a supervisor is available. It’s only £10 each for 50 minutes, which seems like a long time to be throwing axes but it goes pretty quick, especially once you get the hang of it.
You must be over 18 to take part in Axe throwing and you must not consume alcohol before your booking or during, you are allowed soft drinks in the area, this is of course for your safety and others.
We were supervised by a lovely guy who showed us the ropes, gave us a demo and gave encouragement throughout the whole time.
There are 3 individual Axe throwing lanes and the activity is perfect for groups as well as couples. Turned out I was pretty good at throwing axes. It was thoroughly enjoyable and definitely something new we hadn’t tried before.

The whole of Scunthorpe Bowl just looks brand new with so much to do under one roof. It’s stepped away from your idea of a traditional bowling alley and gives you a cool and trendy place to hang out, with so many options.
To name a few more activities there’s obviously bowling, Shuffleboard, Airpark, Arcade, Pool, Air Hockey, Pool Golf, outdoor crazy golf, smart darts, a ludus wall and more!
On a Friday and Saturday night they also have DJ party night with disco bowling.
It’s got something for all ages. We finished our visit with a game of pool and we will be returning very soon!
The staff were polite, friendly and helpful and the overall vibe of the place was brilliant.
You can check out the full list of activities via their website.
