Updated: Popular Town Centre Venue Re-opening after Refurbishment

It’s been a while! The Penny Bank located on High Street in Scunthorpe closed in lockdown back in March 2020 and owners made the decision to remain closed to this day but on Friday 10th December The Penny Bank will once again open it’s doors!

That’s right, it’s back but even better! Join the Penny Bank teams from 5pm next Friday.

The venue has been ripped out, revamped, refurnished and really you won’t recognize the place. The Penny Bank has grown in popularity over the past few years since current owners Portcullis Co. took over.

The Penny Bank is a friendly and accepting space. There is a good mix of ages and people and we always have a good night.

We asked the main man and Bar Manager Shaun Smith if he was looking forward to re-opening:

“I am really looking forward to getting stuck into work again. It’s been a strange 21 months and I have been dying to get back.

I can’t wait to see everybody again, customers new and old! I hope everyone is as excited as I am.

It’s not the same Penny Bank it was before, it’s new and improved and I’m just so excited for everyone to see it!”

Before lockdown the venue was well known for Sunday Live music and DJ nights at a weekend, things might be a little different now with the venue going for a more “chill and socialize vibe” introducing the DJ later on weekends but we will keep you posted.

No live bands have been rebooked as of yet but there has been a rescheduled date for the Almost Sold Out “Almost Pink” Sunday Tribute show.

The venue will be introducing food and menu in the new year. Lunchtime openings will be confined to Friday and Saturday from Noon onwards until further notice but the good news is the late license has been extended!

Will you be popping in the check it out?! We are hoping to have some sneak peak photos very soon.
