Very well suited to the name and the concept of Cafe INDIE, it’s Independent venue week so it seems only right they are a part of it.
There will be plenty going on for everyone.
Msg from Cafe INDIE:
It’s almost time for one of our favourite weeks of the year. A week which in most ways sums up a really important part of what the Café is about.
We’re talking about Independent Venue Week
Independent Venue Week is a 7-day celebration of music venues around the country and a nod to the people that make it happen- and that includes you lovely lot!
The Music Venue side of us has never been funded, we’re a music venue because we love music and providing a space where people can come together and get behind a scene!
We got together to come up with a program that we think best represents us, the bands and artists we work with, along with some of our favourite bands that have played here, some new blood, and some people that we predict a very big 2020 for. We also wanted to pay tribute to and put the spotlight on a few of the informal jams and wonderful groups who use the space. We’ll be sharing some of the funny stories about these nights and some of our favourite INDIE moments have happened at them over the years.
Over the next few days we will highlight every band that’s playing here over this week and give a couple of stories and insights into why we’ve booked them, some weird and wonderful INDIE stories about some of the bands and the evenings, as well as sharing some of their ruddy good music!
Get involved! Its going to be emotional!
