Food Review // Trenta Restaurant ★★★★★

Please note: Trenta is currently not serving in their restaurant. Takeaway and Delivery only.

We heard from a friend that Trenta Pizza had opened a new restaurant so we just had to check it out.

We knew Trenta were previously as just a takeaway so weren’t sure what to expect from the venue or the food but we were very impressed.

It is situated close to the old market site on Home street. On first impressions the building doesn’t look much but inside is a different story. As you walk in you can see the open kitchen with the chef’s cooking everyone’s food fresh.

We were greeted by a friendly and helpful waiter who took us through to our table. The restaurant was lovely, so inviting and a great atmosphere with subtle background music and lighting. There were some really interesting decorative aspects. Very modern and fresh. The chairs were so comfy and soft. It has a bit of a city vibe and you feel as though you have been transported from a quiet area of Scunthorpe town centre to somewhere trendy and vibrant.

Once seated the waiter took our orders. It wasn’t a long wait for our freshly cooked pasta and pizza to be brought to our table.

We were in for a birthday so we ordered a few different things from the menu. Spaghetti Carbonara, Penne pollo e funghi, Lasagne & 2 pizzas.

The pasta dishes were made in the traditional Italian way, using egg rather than cream or a substitute sauce. Both very rich in flavour and accompanied by a nice little pot of grated Parmesan to add to your own taste.

The lasagne was brought to our table piping hot and still sizzling around the edges with it’s own accompaniment of garlic bread, chopped tomatoes, coleslaw & gherkins.

The pizza’s were both stone baked and had a generous helping of toppings. I particularly liked the Bianco pizza as rather than a tomato base it was a creamy Gorgonzola sauce. The second pizza our table ordered was the Rustica. We opted for large on both pizzas, which were both reasonably priced considering it would have cost more at a chain pizza restaurant. Both pizzas came with a nice pot of garlic mayo dip. We added some chips to the order, very nice crispy fries.

This place really is a hidden gem and definitely a great little independent place to eat. I’d say it’s perfectly suitable for groups, parties or a date night. It’s a friendly place with great staff, good food and enjoyable atmosphere. So don’t be put off by the outside. We will definitely be returning in the near future.
