The Crow House by Circo Rum Ba Ba
12noon and 3pm
South Leys Campus, Enderby Road, Scunthorpe DN17 2JL
(near Riddings Pool, Kimberley Performing Arts Centre and the Learning Development Centre)
A FREE outdoor performance for family audiences – a wonderful silent movie inspired show using an eclectic mix of circus, puppetry, musical saw, harp playing and audience participation.
A derelict house appears in the middle of the street. The windows are shattered and a keep out sign bars the front door. A furious bird has taken up residency in the chimney and squawks territorially when anyone comes near the house.
One by one three very different characters arrive through the audience and try to take over the house. A battle of wills and skills ensues with ducking and diving, wheeling and dealing and ingenious plans evolving as each person tries to gain a room inside. Little by little in a choreographed frenzy of acrobatics, silks trapeze, hat juggling and slap stick they begin to accept each other and work to create a home, together, within the battered house. The only remaining problem … the furious bird in the chimney.
The show is approximately 50 minutes and suitable for the entire family. Bring a chair or blanket and a picnic!
Friday 31 August
1pm and 5pm
Co Op Sports Field, Brumby Wood Lane, Scunthorpe, DN17 1AA (please access via Central Park)
A FREE outdoor performance for family audiences – One puppet. Two trapezes. Four performers.
Look Up follows Robyn, a puppet who’s younger than most, but more inquisitive than many, daring to stop, breath in the fresh air, and look up. The world above can be an exhilarating place, full of mystery, possibilities, and perhaps the occasional bird dropping…
Look Up is a celebration of what we can see if we step outside of our everyday lives, and embrace the world around us. The show takes place on a 5 metre high aerial rig and explores the relationship between circus performer, puppet and audience.
A beautiful, highly visual and inspiring collaboration of circus, puppetry and theatre.
Look Up is currently touring festivals throughout the UK and has been commissioned by Without Walls, Brighton Festival, Out There International Festival of Circus and Street Arts and Theatre Delicatessen. With funding and support from Arts Council England, 101 Outdoor Arts Creation Space and SeaChange Arts.
The show is approximately 30 minutes and suitable for the entire family. Bring a chair or blanket and a picnic!

Weekly Aerial Sessions
These sessions will take place on a Sunday from 30th September. Try Aerial Dance and experience ‘dance in the air’, using silks (the ‘silks’ are two long pieces of fabric which you wrap around yourself whilst you create striking poses in the air) and hoops. Led by the Dance Team from artsNK, participants will learn new techniques on silks and hoop equipment which improves physical fitness, strength and flexibility. Through the sessions, participants will learn mounting, dismounting, climbing and poses, moving on the choreographed work.
The classes work out the entire body, improving strength, core and flexibility. They are great for building confidence too, as well as being fun and a very different challenge from your average workout or fitness class!
Young people aged 8-16 can take part from 11.30am-1pm and adults from 1.30-3pm. The sessions will cost £4 per person.
Join us for free taster days on 16th and 23rd September. Drop in between 11.30am-3pm to find out more and secure your place for the sessions which launch on 30th September. The sessions will run term-time only.
