The Scottish singer Rachel Sermanni will be playing Café INDIEpendent on 14th November for an intimate gig with her backing band plus support. We caught up with the Editor of The Mouth Magazine, the organisers of the event.
THE MOUTH MAGAZINE AUTUMN SPECIAL will take place on Friday 14th November 2014 at Cafe Indiependent.
Headliner is RACHEL SERMANNI.
Yes, that’s THE Rachel Sermanni – the Carrbridge (Scotland) lass behind critically acclaimed 2012 album UNDER MOUNTAINS and spectacularly moving 2014 single EVERYTHING CHANGES. She’s just finished recording her as-yet-untitled new album, which will be out early next year.
There have been some great gigs in the Cafe since it opened, and THE MOUTH MAGAZINE AUTUMN SPECIAL has been designed to complement the admirable efforts of the town’s other promoters. It was felt important that the Indie be a platform for diverse genres of music.
“Rachel Sermanni is an incredible talent,” says The Mouth Magazine editor Steve. “She’s funny, a bit of an ingénue and a real presence. But there’s more Laura Marling than Katie Melua in there – dark corners. Very interesting. She’s also somehow wise beyond her 23 years. And she has a voice that could win over stone”.
In Rachel’s small band for this concert is her label-mate COLIN MacLEOD, and the main support act is MISS IRENIE ROSE. On the night there will also be a small exhibition of Rachel’s distinctive drawings. The exhibition is called NUDES AND DREAMS.
Opening the show is Scunthorpe duo THE DUKE AND THE DAISY (aka Bash and Charley Eddy) fresh from triumph in The Convent’s online competition. One of the associate sponsors of THE MOUTH MAGAZINE AUTUMN SPECIAL is SC4 (the Scunthorpe-based steel company run by Charley’s proud mum and dad).
The other associate sponsor is MUDDY BOOT PRODUCTIONS, a Scunthorpe-based video company which has worked closely with The Mouth Magazine on several previous projects – including a video session with Rachel Sermanni.
“Very grateful to both sponsors for assisting in making it possible to get Rachel Sermanni to Scunthorpe,” says The Mouth Magazine editor Steve.
Tickets for THE MOUTH MAGAZINE AUTUMN SPECIAL are £10 – they will be on sale in Cafe Indiependent in the very near future. But for now enquiries / reservations can be made to: firstname.lastname@example.org
