There were 24 places up for grabs in the four heats of the 2014 Scunthorpe Rock Open and it didn’t take long to fill up. From the acts entered so far, I have seen a couple and there is a nice mix ranging from acoustic to the more heavy metal.
We can see so far in the entrants there are a mix of local Scunthorpe acts and also a nice variety of surrounding areas. One local band entered into the competition will be the newest band to the local scene Alt Rock ‘The Recruits’ these boys have already been all over playing gigs this summer and are getting noticed for it. Ameira, Native Braves & Mr Smiley Cam are returning to represent Scunthorpe for another year. We wish all the musicians the best of luck and we will try to make it down for a couple of the heats for some video clips.

To present this years winners with their trophy will be last years winners Bear Makes Ninja. There will also be a group of professional judges whom have been specially selected to assist the final acts and winner progress in the music business.
The 4 heats will take place on September 6, 13, 20 and 27.
Three acts from each of the four heats will go through to the semi-finals on October 11 and 18.
It will then leave six acts for the final on November 29.
