Band Review:Get Down With Dirty Sterling

1234306_10205350527112035_7537157003814695560_nIndie rock’n’roller’s Dirty Sterling are without a doubt one of the most popular local bands in the area. Why? Well people just know their songs and they get the crowd going. Music with attitude and some encouraging stage banter to the audience.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen an audience stand still to Sterling and this Saturday was no exception, they headlined a local gig to a packed out venue. They were set to appear at a new venue called Cafe INDIEpendent unfortunately the venue wasn’t ready due to it being completely renovated by volunteers and young people but with a last minute venue swop to a large bar down the road the night went smooth and the capacity went up. New Music: Coeds “Sensitive Boys”

Our review of COEDS new track

Backseat Mafia

Before being asked to review the new track from the Coeds, I had never heard of them, which I suppose is the case in most reviews but this track and duo are very likeable. I was really impressed with the song itself, falling directly into what you might identify as electro pop. Coeds are made up from members Merideth Muñoz & Ryan Kailath and they come from Austin, TX / New York, NY.

They started writing songs in the Summer of 2013 after a three-year haitus (the pair are old friends). While Ryan was in town for a visit, they laid down ‘Sensitive Boys’ just for fun in very little time, and were pleasantly surprised by what they heard. So much so, they continued to collaborate online, despite the distance between the two, and they released their first single in January 2014.

It’s certainly a good job Ryan visited because this track does…

New Video: The Starkins “Roundabout”

South Yorkshire Band – The Starkins

Backseat Mafia

This new video comes from a bunch of young lads from South Yorkshire. The video is upbeat whilst being quite simple and features an everyday scenario of a group of friends at the fun fair. The band is a Four piece indie/ guitar-pop band comprising of members:

Vocals- Andy Daniels (Winnie)
Guitar – Matt Elliss
Bass – Will Campbell
Drums – Joe Elliss

What I like about the video and sound of these lads is the fact the vocals have that hint of yorkshire accent. The music ska feel about it, very jump around and dance.

In the video it follows the band at the funfair on all the rides and having a good time with shots also filmed in a room with the band playing, this format seems to be popular with scene shots and then band in performance shots. The video works well for this song in particular because its energetic…

Opening Night Event At Café INDIEpendent

Scunthorpe Independent News

The venue is still undergoing a lot of hard work to get it near ready for opening. The first event will be held down in the basement of the building. If you remember the building as SOHO then down the steps to where Cram computers used to be situated. This is a great building with interesting levels. Which is why it will make a perfect and interesting venue and stand out from the ordinary standard you would usually categorise Cafe under.
