Remembering Humberside

An exhibition to mark 30 years since the abolition of Humberside County Council.
Explore the history of Humberside County, formed in 1974 and abolished in 1996, in this touring display.
30 years since its abolition, what did Humberside mean to you? How did the people who lived here feel about ‘Humberside’?
At North Lincolnshire Museum, Remembering Humberside is accompanied by objects from the Museum’s collections that capture our local chapter in this story.
Remembering Humberside is curated by Becca Drake, Jo Esra, Matt Houlbrook, Claire Langhamer, Emily Robinson, and Sam Stones. The exhibition was designed and produced by Ian Goodison.
This touring exhibition will also be on display at Scunthorpe Central library 5 – 28 June 2026.

Up Our Road

An oral history and photography exhibition.
Up Our Road celebrates and documents community champions with a story of migration and connection to Oswald and Frodingham Road. North Lincolnshire Museum sits within one of the most diverse neighbourhoods in North Lincolnshire. The stretch of road is home to community centres, churches of different denominations, businesses, restaurants, a gurdwara and mosques.
Through personal interviews and photographic portraits, Up Our Road documents the experiences and stories of people who work to strengthen their communities. The exhibition highlights stories of leadership and contribution from across the community, including Roj Rahman, co-owner of Scunthorpe United Football Club.

Explore the Ukrainian traditions, arts and culture which enrich our cultural landscape. From beautiful artwork to food, and Ukrainian history, the exhibition celebrates the ways in which Ukrainian culture continues to thrive and enrich North Lincolnshire.
