Ian Lee – 88 and Out
North Lincolnshire Museum on Oswald Road
Plate Mill Steelworks photography exhibition
North Lincolnshire based photographer Ian Lee worked for British Steel in various roles for 30 years.
In that time, he documented the history of the Scunthorpe Plate Mill, and later its demolition, after it had been decommissioned in 2015 after 88 years in service.
He compiled over 300 of these photographs, along with historical archive images, into a book called ‘88 and Out’. The sold-out book is being reprinted this year, to coincide with this exhibition.
The exhibition will feature photographs from the book, as well as objects, models and memorabilia from the Plate Mill. The exhibition also features photographs from the British Steel archive, which Ian has selected for the exhibition.
