Exciting Exhibition Coming This April!

20-21 Visual Arts Centre are thrilled to announce that we will be hosting the first-ever retrospective exhibition of Barton-on-Humber-based artist Annabel McCourt!

Annabel is one of North Lincolnshire’s most celebrated artists, with her thought-provoking works exhibited worldwide—from Australia to Senegal, China, and Brazil.

Her powerful sculptures and installations tackle themes of world politics, conflict, and LGBTQIA+ history, often using bold materials like rusted steel, industrial artefacts, and neon lighting. But at the heart of her work is conversation—encouraging people to engage rather than pushing a viewpoint.

At the centre of the exhibition: I’m Sorry – a deeply personal and moving series exploring loss, healing, and the power of saying “I’m Sorry.” Featuring community-led photography, neon artworks, and a space for visitors to share their own apologies, this installation creates a profound space for reflection.

Also on display: Electric Fence – a striking interactive piece exploring exclusion and the barriers we all face. Designed like a prison-style fence with faux barbed wire and CCTV cameras, it dares you to step forward and engage.

This is a touring exhibition from Barnsley Civic, and we’re honoured to bring it to our gallery.
