I didn’t fancy cooking and had a bit of brain fog in the kitchen, so after seeing good reviews and deliciously tempting photos on Brunch Banging Burgers social media, we decided to give it ago.
We ordered 2 Farmers Wife burgers, Smash burger with spicy chicken or southern fried chicken, cheese, ketchup, mayo and lettuce. This comes in a soft brioche bun and the ratio of burger to chicken is just right, both the same thickness and the quality was good. The burger smash patty was juicy and lathered with melted cheese and the chicken was just the right amount of crispy, with tender chicken inside. The burger was sauced perfectly, because I can’t stand a dry burger! I can’t really describe the taste to do this burger justice it deserves but it was just really tasty, so tasty, I could have had another.

Next up, we each picked a different option of chips, I went for the Loaded Chips and the other was Katsu Curry Chips. The loaded chips weren’t really what I’d traditionally expect as loaded but they were lovely and they were certainly loaded with flavour. Ordinarily I’m a crispy outside, soft inside and savoury flavour kinda chip girl but these were different and I liked it, they were sort of sweet, sticky with a kick of spice and a moreish flavour that I just couldn’t get enough of. Closest thing I can liken them to is they had a hint of sweet potato taste to them. I couldn’t really see or taste cheese but I think it was finely grated rather than your usual stodge of cheesy chips, These came in at £5.50. You did get a large portion and I’d probably buy these again.
The Katsu chips, I wasn’t really keen on the sauce as it was a little vinegary for my liking but it wasn’t bad. It was a good choice that they also sent the chips and sauce separate, giving the option to dip rather than smother. The chips were skin on, crispy and fluffy. Again, good portion size.

My only regret from our order is that we didn’t order 2 different burgers so we only got to try one offering, The Spartan and the Bagel stack did catch my eye….maybe another time?
Overall my expectations are always pretty high, especially when it’s costing over £25 for 2 burgers and 2 portions of chips. But you know, support local and you might be surprised because I couldn’t fault this food at all, it came quick, it came hot and even came in specialised cardboard packaging with steam holes. I’m so tight with spending my money it’s unreal and I usually wait for some sort of offer or deal so something has to be good for me to think it was worth the money and Brunch Burgers seemed worth it! Although £8 for just one burger always seems a lot, I can appreciate smaller businesses have higher costs and it’s not the most expensive burger around.
You can eat in at the restaurant based on Frod Road or take out and I might pop in sometime in the future.
*This review was not requested, it is my own opinion and I was in no way influenced. I received no freebies in order to write this review, I just wanted to shout out a small local business that really impressed me.
