Venue Change for North Lincs Armed Forces Day 2026

For a while now the North Lincs Armed Forces Day has been held at the Brumby Sports ground behind the pods near Central park but this year the council have made the big decision to move the event location to Normanby Hall Country Park.

They have reassured people via comments that there will be public transport available and that entry and parking will remain free. However some people still think this could be a risky move with the community event moving outside of the town.

Armed Forces Day marches into Normanby Park on 20 June.

Expect parades, drill displays, live music as well as mini tank rides, living history displays and a Dad’s Army tribute show – all set against the historic backdrop of Normanby Hall.

The move creates space to do more, more to recognise service, more to tell local stories and more for families to get involved.

Normanby Hall’s wartime links, alongside the Rural Life Museum, bring a powerful new dimension to the day that will spotlight not only those who served, but the vital role played by farming and rural communities in supporting the war effort at home and abroad.

Cllr Rob Waltham, leader of North Lincolnshire Council, said: “Hosting the event at Normanby Hall gives us the opportunity to make the very most of a wonderful setting.

“There’s more space and the ability to invite even more exhibitors and stallholders, making the festival bigger and better than ever before.

It allows us to grow the event in the right way, while keeping Armed Forces Day at its heart.”

The festival will build around Armed Forces Day with military displays, living history, performances and hands-on activities across the site.

It’s designed to be lively, accessible and rooted in place – a day that feels relevant, meaningful and worth returning to.

Cllr Elaine Marper, cabinet member for transforming the customer journey, added: “Armed Forces Day is a chance to pay tribute to the dedication and sacrifice of our servicemen and women, veterans and their families.

We are proud to play our part in bringing people together to recognise that service. This festival will be a fitting and heartfelt way to say thank you.”

Normanby Hall was used as a hospital for convalescing soldiers during the First World War, and had various roles in the Second World War, including secret testing of amphibious tanks on the River Trent at Burton-upon-Stather.

By putting Armed Forces Day at the heart of a wider festival setting, the council is creating a stronger, more memorable event that honours service while celebrating the history and character of the area.

The event will be held on 20 June, 2026 – further details will be announced soon.
