This weekend I sampled the new homemade platters from Sushi by Nel, The platter had a good balance of flavours. Unlike mass-produced alternatives, these rolls are a generous portion size and incredibly fresh, with a soft cream cheese centre and a selection of fish, such as tempura prawns, salmon and crab sticks balanced by the crisp snap of cucumber.

The attention to detail is what really stands out. Each piece is beautifully presented, finished with a satisfying crunch of fried onions and the brightness of fresh spring onions.
It’s served with high-quality salty soy, pungent wasabi and pickled ginger that cleanses the palate perfectly.
Each set of sushi on the platter was displayed differently, one of the rolls sprinkled with desiccated coconut, which make for a slightly sweet variation. Others rolled in crispy coatings and sprinkles of sesame seeds and even dried orange peel.

These sushi platters are a brilliant way to get everyone around the table involved (even if, like me, you’re still mastering the art of chopsticks!).
You can even build your own custom combo platter to suit your taste.
If you’re looking for a fresh, vibrant local alternative for dinner, you can order your custom platter via Sushi by Nel on Facebook.
Platter Pricing:
At just £18 for 20 pieces or £28 for 32, it is fantastic value for the quality and quantity of food.
