Exciting News: Imaginarium Restaurant Set to Open in Scunthorpe Town Centre

Exciting news! I follow this restaurant on social media and I’ve always meant to try it but never seem to get over. Currently the restaurant is situated in the Market Place in Barton Upon Humber, so it’s not a million miles away but it’s not as close as it’s NEW sister venue The Imaginarium 1876

OPENING DATE ANNOUNCEMENT
The brand-new Imaginarium 1876 officially opens it’s doors on Wednesday 3rd December in the Elizabeth Quarter building in the town centre.

They will be launching with daytime opening only throughout December while they find their feet and deal with the festive period.

DECEMBER OPENING HOURS
Mon–Fri: 7:30am – 4:30pm
Sat–Sun: 9:00am – 4:30pm

Eventually, when the venue has fully launched it will be open in the evenings too.

By day, it will be a chic bistro and café, and by night, a vibrant restaurant

The current Imaginarium Gastro Lounge in Barton offers contemporary British & European cuisine, cocktails, wines and premium beers.

The Imaginarium Gastro Lounge have agreed a lease with the council and will be opening a brand new second restaurant inside the newly built and currently unoccupied Elizabeth Quarter ground floor situated on the site of the old market in Scunthorpe town centre (near Church Square and the library). Now, this building is very smart looking on the outside and certainly very eye catching so I’ve got no doubt it’s going to look good!

The Imaginarium are aiming to be open for end of November but there’s a lot to do before they can move in, so the wait could be a little longer. As of now there is no kitchen fitted, no furniture or fixtures, just an empty canvas, so the venue requires a full refit before any diners walk through it’s doors.

Owners of The Imaginarium said on a video posted by North Lincs Council “It’s not just about the food, we want to create a space for the community, where everyone feels welcome and safe.”

The council said: “The move marks a milestone in the long-term plan for Scunthorpe town centre.

Humberside Police are set to build a new town centre police station on the site, and the local NHS has signed a long-term lease for the office space at Elizabeth Quarter for consultations, patient appointments, and a base for their community mental health teams.”

Our offer is something for everyone – fresh, quality food made in-house. You’ll find healthy, modern options alongside our much-loved Imaginarium favourites. From freshly baked breads and cakes to open sandwiches and barista coffee, everything is crafted with care and designed to bring people together.
“Our vision is simple: to serve food that nourishes, in a place that connects. This restaurant will always be more than the menu, because for us it’s not just about opening the doors to a restaurant – it’s about opening doors to a brighter future. This space will belong to the people of Scunthorpe.”

Tracey Moxon, co-owner of The Imaginarium, said

The new restaurant will blend imaginative design with a contemporary menu, complementing the wider transformation of Elizabeth Quarter into a vibrant hub for culture, business, and leisure.

Floor Plan of the leased venue

I think once it’s open we can expect exciting new food theme nights and events too. So it’s another welcome addition to the town in my books.

Recently a few newer independent restaurants have opened in the town centre and are proving a hit with fine dining restaurant DOM on Robert Street and Neapolitan cuisine from Trattoria Caputto on Dunstall Street.

Also creating a BUZZ on social media is the new unit at 294 Ashby High Street, Dalgona Korean Kitchen. It’s unclear yet how much seating will be inside for diners and if it will primarily be a takeaway but I’m sure we will all find out soon enough.
