Combining electric guitar riffs with an anthemic vocal, Manchester five piece, Gathering Of Strangers, create a fast paced yet emotive sound that gives them a style that will grab and take hold of you from the offset.
Band members Hailing from Birmingham, Scunthorpe and Carlisle, Conor Rabone (vocals) Tom Wingate (guitar) Bruce Higgs (bass/keys) Peter Crampsey (drums) and Andre Ilkiw (guitar/bass) met whilst studying at Manchester University and came together to refine their craft and forge together an eclectic mix of musical styles.
The band have never played to a Scunthorpe audience before, despite it being the band’s guitar player, Andre Ilkiw’s hometown.
The band formed in 2015 and have become long-established favourites in their newfound home of Manchester. Selling-out headline shows at the likes of YES, Soup Kitchen and Night & Day, entrancing sets at Dot2Dot and Neighbourhood have also seen them win over the masses with triumphant festival appearances.
The band have released a series of seriously strong singles to date, with cuts like their head-turning debut “Nice Hair”, the intoxicating “Lady”, “Antidote”, “Cherry Red”, “Naked & Blind” and one of my personal favourites “No Remorse”. Gathering of Strangers have had air-play on BBC Radio 6 Music, Kerrang Radio and XS Manchester. The band are set to release their newest single “Red & Gold” on Friday 19th August.
Writing songs of passionate intensity and intricate depth, the quintet have already worked with industry-recognised talent including Neal ‘X’ Whitmore (Marc Almond/Sigue Sigue Sputnik), Cenzo Townshend (Decoy studios), David Watts (Kaiser Chiefs, Paul Heaton) and Frank Arkwright (Abbey Road), among many others who have been quick to recognise their glistening potential.
