The Specials to perform at The Baths Hall – only gig in Humber and Lincolnshire region!
Legendary ska band The Specials are coming to The Baths Hall, Scunthorpe on Sunday, 23 October. Tickets, priced £40 each (booking fee may apply), go on sale at 9am on Friday, 26 February.
It is their only gig on this tour in the Humber and Lincolnshire region.
Hailing from the industrial city of Coventry, this multi-racial seven-piece combined the angry, disaffected voice of punk with the wind-your-waist sensibility of ska and reggae to re-define pop music and make Britain dance again. A mercurial two and a half years later and it was all over, leaving behind seven top 10 singles (two of which went to No.1) and two top five genre-defining albums. Their first single, ‘Gangsters’, released on their own 2tone label in 1979, was their calling card and ‘Ghost Town’, their swan song, encapsulated the political mood in Britain. In between was a larger-than-life reputation for killer sweat-drenched live shows and an attitude that walked like it talked.
Since they reformed 30 years later, The Specials have performed at over 200 shows worldwide including (deep breath): Coachella (US), Summersonic / Fiji Rocks (Japan), Benecassim (Spain), Lalapalooza Festival, (Chile), Montreal Jazz Festival (Canada), Bluesfest Byron Bay (Australia) as well as countless other worldwide event. In the UK they closed the Olympic Games festival in Hyde Park, played Glastonbury, Isle of Wight Festival amongst others and had several sold out tours.
Standing and seated tickets will be available for the visit of The Specials.
Tickets now availible from The Box Office, http://www.bathshall.co.uk or call 08448542776. Calls cost 7p per minute plus your phone company’s access charge.

The legendary, record-breaking, Box Office smash hit thriller The Mousetrap is coming to The Baths Hall. The Mousetrap is famous around the world for being the longest running show of any kind in the history of British theatre – with over 25,000 performances it’s a play to be proud of.
Enjoy this once in a life-time opportunity to see this masterpiece at The Baths Hall when it visits for eight shows between 15 and 20 June.
The scene is set when a group of people gathered in a country house cut off by the snow discover, to their horror, that there is a murderer in their midst. Who can it be? One by one the suspicious characters reveal their sordid pasts until at the last, nerve-shredding moment the identity and the motive are finally revealed.
In her own inimitable style, Dame Agatha Christie has created an atmosphere of shuddering suspense and a brilliantly intricate plot where murder lurks around every corner.

“SEE YOU IN THE TREES 2015!!!”
A local charity is proud to announce a very special event in April. At 6.30pm on 17th April, Nick Dakin MP will open the Lincolnshire House Art Exhibition in the Activities Centre at Lincolnshire House on Brumby Wood Lane, Scunthorpe. The exhibition will open on 18th April as well so that more people can view the artworks.
Lincolnshire House is a registered charity based in Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire, providing residential, day and respite care services for adults with Cerebral Palsy.
The Creativity for All team in Lincolnshire House have been working hard since January to produce some really amazing results which will be on sale at the Exhibition. Many of the residents have been able to make individual art or join in supported activities to produce some beautiful original pieces. Their work will be displayed and sold alongside art donated by the local community. Appeals have gone out for donations of art for sale and local people have shown such originality and generosity, some even producing work especially for the exhibition.
Any unsold work will be sold on the internet, at future fundraising events and also via Cafe Indiependent in Scunthorpe, who will exhibit some of the pieces for sale.
All proceeds will go to the Lincolnshire House Wish Appeal, which has so far enabled the completion of phase 7 of a building project including a further Activities building, Norman Peet Centre, where one of the facilities is a dedicated Creativity for All room. This is where the art for the exhibition has been produced.
Photographs of artworks are on http://www.facebook.com/LincsHouse and on Twitter @LincolnshireH.
The event will be open from 6-9pm on 17th April and from 10am to 3pm on 18th. There will be a great variety of items for sale with prices starting at £5, but if you decide to buy something you will need either cash or cheque, as the charity don’t have card facilities.
Lincolnshire House hope that you will support this event and invite all your friends and family to join in with celebrating the achievements of all the artists.
