Town centre pub, The Penny Bank have announced that as of this weekend (Saturday 8th Feb) they will be launching a brand new service….food!
It’s been years since the pub last offered dining, under the former name “The Mint”.
What would you perhaps expect from food at a small town centre pub?..well whatever you were expecting, scrap that because they’ve surprised the public with quite an extensive and different menu.
The pub have employed an experienced full time chef, who has previously worked at places such as, The Shires in Gainsthorpe. The chef has created this menu with a passion for food and customers new and old.
The management and staff at The Penny Bank are very excited to be able to now offer their customers a dining experience, which involved a brand new upstairs kitchen and extensive staff training. There will be a breakfast & brunch menu, main menu, desserts menu and a full kids menu.
Most ingredients have been locally sourced, where possible. Supporting Scunthorpe suppliers and traders, whilst creating delicious home cooked meals. The price is obviously a little higher than your average chain pub grub, but The Penny Bank is an independent Freehouse and is the only pub that owners, Portcullis Pub Co own at present. The food will be freshly prepared and the most importantly, the chips aren’t frozen!
The Sunday menu will not be your traditional sunday dinner and will instead be SUNDAY BRUNCH served from 10am until 5pm. If you do decide to pop in for a Sunday Brunch there’s a bonus of free live music every Sunday from 6:30pm. Just enough time to let your food settle before having a dance.
Dining will take place on the two raised areas, either side of the pub. So if you’ve not been for a while give it a try and let us know what you think.
