Over last weekend we visited Cleethorpes on Saturday 8th July for the annual Scooter Weekend. Continue reading Review// Cleethorpes Scooter Weekend
The parade will launch with a bang, with local community, businesses and charities all coming together to entertain the thousands of people who will line the four and a half mile route from Sidney Park to the Meridian Park Arena.
Come and enjoy this fantastic day of fun, colour and sound!
Cleethorpes National Scooter Rally 3rd – 5th July 2015
The main event is held at Meridian park where camping and entertainment is on offer. £15 for Scooter riders and £20 for everyone else. Day pass is also available for £2 on the day.
If you don’t fancy the actual event at Meridian the scooters can be seen parked up all along the seafront usually near waves bar. All the pubs are open with people bulging out the doors and Motown booming from every angle. It generally is a great day out for adults or families. But I’d say mostly for adults as it is quite a drinking culture event. So why not get yourself on the train and head over to Cleethorpes this weekend or go pitch up a tent at Meridian park. I say train because traffic is hectic, so I would advise you don’t drive or you park outside of Cleethorpes.
Saturday 25th July
Cleefest Meridian Showground
Cleefest returns to Meridian Showground for another year. This family-friendly festival will be sure to entertain the whole family with its fantastic live entertainment and leading tribute acts including One Direction, Bon Jovi and Madness.

As it’s coming up to seaside season a few of you may be getting yourself to the beach at the weekends, so Just a short drive from Scunthorpe in the popular seaside town of Cleethorpe’s we visited STEEL’S fish and chips for a sit down fish supper.
Steel’s opened back in 1946. STEEL’S has gained a wide reputation based on it’s quality and quantity.
The place it’s self is a little dated with it’s decor, but I suppose it adds to the charm of it. The restaurant covers two floors and it’s quite a cosy fit. When I hear about people visiting Cleethorpe’s for Fish and Chips for a sit down rather than over the counter, STEEL’S is probably the one I hear of most, usually from the more mature age group and families.
The staff were very welcoming and polite with smiles on their faces even at 8pm on a Sunday night. We went for a medium haddock and chips each with a side of mushy pea’s, which included a pot of tea for two. The amount of chips piled onto the plate was a little overwhelming and there was no chance we were going to manage them all. The pea’s were sweet & tasty and the haddock was coated in a nice light batter and wasn’t hard or greasy. The fish tasted very freshly prepared and good quality and all the food was very hot, including the pot of tea. Probably the only complaint would be the seating booths were not the most comfortable and the air con smelt a little fusty.
Overall the quantity and quality of the food was good and it wasn’t over priced, it came up to just over £23.00 for the two of us. STEEL’S Fish
