If you have any photos/videos from this weekend or any in the future send them in an attachment with your name to email@example.com or post them on our Facebook wall. Our posts are reaching better than ever week by week. 6,000 to 10,000 on average weekly. Keep supporting Scunthorpe Nights.
Great to see the Line has been forming outside Cafe INDIEpendent since tea time in the rain for the chance to see While She Sleeps, Sheffield Hardcore band.
The Capacity for Cafe INDIEpendent gig’s 200 people and as we last heard there were 50-100 people waiting outside. The reason for this is, One they are popular and two there are NO PRE SOLD tickets. This event is a door only payment of £10. So it’s race to the line and hope you make it in before capacity.
If you are at the gig tonight please send us your photos of the band, you, your friends & the crowd.
Tweet them @ScunthorpeNight or Send them to our facebook here.
Exciting news for Scunthorpe fans this weekend as the wait is over and ‘While She Sleeps’ books a #supportyourlocal scene gig at the newest town centre venue Cafe INDIEpendent on Saturday (September 20th) at 7pm.
Hardcore Sheffield band, ‘While She Sleeps’ will be live and loud in Scunthorpe town centre and believe me there is no sleeping to their music. It’s loud and it’s heavy. These boys have risen to the big-time fresh from touring Japan. When I say big-time I can’t go to a town or city without seeing one person wearing a WSS logo t-shirt, ever seen the teens of today with the WSS across their front? Now you know what it means.
Now even if you aren’t into this type of heavy hitting music it’s still hard not to get excited that they chose our town to help support the scene. It goes to show that Cafe INDIEpendent is going down in bands good books as being the place to play.
The band is made up of 5 members
Lawrence Taylor- Vocals
Sean Long- Guitar
Mat Welsh -Guitar / Vocals
Aaran Mckenzie- Bass
Adam Savage- Drums
They are looking set to achieve their goal of world domination.Already hitting 241k likes on Facebook and 47.7k on twitter and with gigs booked around the world.
I could go into what they sound like and what genre they fit into but for the people who are fans and follow this music scene WSS needs no introduction really. What can be said is this is music to mosh to or at least some serious head banging.
It is quite heavy to me as I’m usually into my Alternative Rock, which is a little lighter but I have respect for the band on how far they have come and still wanting to support the small towns to push their music close and personal to the fans. Just because it’s a bit heavy for me I would still go watch them just for the pure energy, jumping, enthusiasm and the crowd hype. I expect the atmosphere is going to be electric.
You may have to wait in a line for a while on the night of the gig as there are ONLY TICKETS ON THE DOOR. There will be no pre sale of tickets so once the 200 capacity is full, it’s full and Cafe INDIEpendent. This means it will be a pretty close and personal gig down in the BASEMENT of the venue. It is quality down there, peering into Cafe Independent from outside looks like a light and open cafe space where you would sit in the day and take a break but as soon as you step down the stairs into the Basement it feels like gig time.
This weekend coming (Friday 19th and Saturday 20th September) will see two big gigs one after another.
On the Friday
the popular Tacheless Promotions brings back Clint Boon, this time with his band ‘Inspiral Carpets’. Tacheless usually have no problem getting to capacity at Cafe INDIEpendent as the nights have a rather loyal following and attendance. Tickets are priced at £16. If you want to find out about any remaining tickets please contact. Tacheless Promotions. Doors Open at 8pm.
the Cafe will be taken over by hardcore Sheffield band ‘While She Sleeps’. Who have only just returned from touring Japan.
A few people have seen the hype for While She Sleeps and I think it’s safe to say there will be no struggle to fill the 200 people capacity with door only entry fee’s. If you want to get in you may expect to be queuing rather early or risk not getting in. The door fee will cost you £10. Because of the popularity of this band within the hardcore and metal scene, this avoids over priced ticket re sales/touts. Doors open at 7pm.
While She Sleeps are pushing 241k likes on Facebook and 47.7k on twitter last time I looked and the amount of worn merchandise seen around featuring their name.
So for those people wondering is this band for you as you haven’t heard them before, I’d take a listen. Their name could suggest they are a quiet bunch but this more acts as irony, I think. As it’s definitely not material for bedtime lullaby listening.
Both events will be 200 capacity, the Cafe INDIEpendent bar is open in the basement for gigs. But please remember Cafe INDIEpendent is a place to appreciate music and listen not get off your face on cheap beer.
