Food Review // The Iron Forge – 40% off mains in January

Last night, we couldn’t be bothered to cook and I remembered I had seen the Marston’s 40% off mains offer.

It’s pretty simple just follow the link, book and you’ll get an email. Then just turn up to the Iron Forge, take a seat and just quote at the till you have 40% off mains when placing your order.

There were no exclusions to what mains you could and couldn’t have. So we went for the £12.99 mixed grill and the XL Buttermilk Chicken Brie Burger at £10.29.

The mixed grill came with a rump steak, a gammon steak, a pork steak, a Cumberland sausage, half a chicken breast, two free-range fried eggs and a black pudding bon bon. I must say the bon, bon was pretty good. I’ve never seen black pudding like that. My steak was small but it wasn’t a bad cut and it was done how I had asked, plus I don’t think I could have managed a steak any bigger alongside all the other meats and they were all cooked nicely. Everything was very hot on the plate so no complaints here.

The XL brie burger came filled with buttermilk chicken goujons, tender on the inside and crisp on the outside in a brioche style bun with salad.

Service was prompt and we didn’t wait long for our food to arrive. This is the first time we have tried something other than the carvery here. And although we still enjoy a carvery it was nice to try something from the main menu and with 40% off it was a cracking deal. As the whole thing cost £13.50, which is a great saving to say the mixed grill should have been £12.99 on its own.

The deal is only available Monday to Friday in January but if you like a discount, here’s the link to grab it.
