Food Review // Dine Bangla Sunday Banquet

Sunday’s for a lot of people mean a traditional Sunday roast or a home cooked meal but as we were going for a night at The Baths we thought we would visit Dine Bangla on Frodingham road. It’s a small place with a simple yet welcoming and pleasant decor.

On Sunday’s from 5pm until 11pm Dine Bangla offer the Sunday banquet, which is what attracted us. The banquet costs £10.95 per person and includes poppadoms and a pickle tray, a mix of small starters, your choice of main and a rice and naan to share. The portion size is a lot better than some of the other restaurants with deals like this.

Firstly we ordered our drinks, which £3.50 for a pint of coke is very steep in my opinion but anyway that’s my only bad point of the meal, we were quickly presented with 2 fresh and warm poppadoms, 4 dips and also a mint yogurt sauce in a gravy boat. They definitely weren’t tight on the dips and sauces.

Secondly you are presented with a plate of mixed starters, so each of you get to try the different things. On the plate were some very nice tandoori chicken wings, samosa, onion bhaji and a small coriander and meat kofta. The side salad was a nice addition to the plate and was neatly presented. We enjoyed these with our leftover dips.

Soon after we finished, out came our main dishes, the portions were perfect as it gave us enough to share. The lamb Rogan Josh was tasty with succulent pieces of lamb in small bite size pieces. The chicken Tikka Masala was quite sweet but very tasty.

We also got to pick a side so we went for Bombay potatoes, these tasted so fresh with the herbs and spices and were perfectly soft. The naan was garlic and although sharing one between two of us, it was more than enough.

Overall for £10.95, all this is a pretty good deal other than the coke price but I suppose drinks are where they make the most money. I would really recommend trying this one Sunday, the staff were good, nice food, good value for money and something different to have for your sunday dinner.
