FantastiCon // This Weekend #Hull2017

FantastiCon SF/Fantasy/Cosplay/Gaming/Music convention in Hull

The first weekend of September will see the 4th annual FantastiCon convention in the beautiful Guildhall in Hull. It is a family-friendly weekend event of activities based in the worlds of Sci-Fi, fantasy and gaming.

The star turns this year are BBC presenter and women-in-STEM campaigner Kate Russell, pirate themed musical brothers duo JollyBoat and UCL academic Dr Matt Dickinson, the UK’s real life ‘Tony Stark’ who will be demonstrating a mind-controlled Dr Octavius robotic tentacle and his sonar-technology-powered Daredevil helmet along with some never before seen tech. Also in attendance and mingling with guests will be a phalanx of Daleks, Stormtroopers, Hobbits and characters from all manner of Sci-Fi and fantasy worlds.

The event also features the latest and greatest in Retro Gaming, Virtual Reality technology, tabletop/board and RPG Gaming, FREE soft drinks and biscuits and more!

There’s even a NERF arena and a daily NERF war for those brave enough to participate.

As the convention is put on by East Yorkshire publisher Fantastic Books Publishing, award winning crime writer Penny Grubb’s latest novel, Syrup Trap City, set in Hull in its city of culture year, will be launched at the event alongside a handful of other titles from the LGBT, SF and Fantasy genres.

The convention will be held at the Guildhall 2nd and 3rd September, 10 am to 6 pm. In addition is a live music night on Saturday evening 7 pm to 11 pm.

Tickets are available from fantasticon.co.uk or on the door. NUS concessions are available.
