The Beckwood have started doing a Thursday carvery. So we decided to go a long and have a try. Traditionally a Sunday thing but why not on a weeknight aye?
Thursday fresh food carvery starts from 5pm until 8pm and if you have kids then it’s an even better deal as Kid’s under 12 eat free. (Terms Apply, see bottom of review)
We arrived at The Beckwood around half 6 and there were a few in already enjoying their Thursday Carvery. We ordered some drinks and paid for our food at the bar. Which was a very reasonable price of £6.95 per adult. After paying for your carvery you are given a ticket to get your food.
The food was in a usual carvery style, go to the counter and select which meats you would like the chef to carve for you, we had a bit of everything. The good thing is that the meats are purchased from the local butchers “Taylor’s” in Ashby, so it’s good meat. You could choose from beef, gammon and turkey. All the meats were very nice and melted in the mouth, no tough beef here.
The veg selection was comprised of Cauliflower, sliced carrots, broccoli, peas and mash potato. There was also home roasted potatoes, yorkshire puddings and stuffing. All fresh veg, home cooked and hand prepared. Besides the meat being tender and tasty, my favourite thing has got to be the gravy. I do love gravy though and this was some good stuff. It was full of delicious meat juices. I do apologize for the presentation on the images but as you well know if you go to a carvery and help yourself, your plate ends up looking more like a pile on.
The staff were friendly and the setting and decor in The Beckwood restaurant is pleasant, clean and relaxing. We sat at a table for two with some rather comfy chairs. We will definitely be returning for a carvery again sometime soon.
